Meet Dan.
Candidate for Collier County Commissioner, District 4

Daniel “Dan” Zegarac is a retired automotive executive, proven local government leader, and committed advocate for fiscal responsibility and small businesses. He moved to Naples in 2021 because he believes in the future of Collier County and is committed to protecting the quality of life that makes Southwest Florida such a special place to live and work.
Dan built his career in the private sector, rising through the ranks of the retail automotive industry to become a general manager of large auto dealerships. Over decades in business, he developed extensive experience in budgeting, profitability, employee relations, customer service, and operational oversight — skills that translate directly to effective, accountable government.
Dan later brought that real-world experience to public service. From 2010 to 2013, he served on the Avon City Council in Ohio, including as President of City Council during a period of significant growth. While in leadership, Dan worked on major public-private partnerships, including the project that brought a Cleveland Clinic hospital to the community. That effort required a new interstate interchange, and through smart negotiation, the project ensured developers contributed toward the cost, protecting taxpayers while supporting responsible growth.
In 2020 and 2021, Dan served on the Willoughby Hills City Council, where he helped lead during the COVID-19 pandemic. He spearheaded a CARES Act program that provided targeted relief to small and micro-businesses, ensuring assistance reached those who needed it most while maintaining fiscal accountability.
Dan is a Republican who believes in limited government, responsible spending, and strong oversight. He is deeply committed to supporting small businesses, which are the backbone of Collier County’s economy, and believes the county should remain a place of opportunity—where families, workers, and entrepreneurs can succeed without excessive regulation or wasteful government spending.
Dan believes local government works best when it focuses on everyday issues like traffic, infrastructure, housing, and collaboration with the City of Naples, rather than political agendas. He brings a common-sense, results-driven approach shaped by both private-sector leadership and hands-on government experience.
Dan is the proud father of five grown children and is looking forward to becoming a grandfather. In his free time, he enjoys fitness, music, theater, reading, the beach, sports, and spending time with family and friends.
